EVH and NIVI explore strategic collaboration to accelerate vaccine research, strengthen immunological assessment, and enhance European pandemic preparedness through integrated scientific networks.

Exploring EVH–NIVI Collaboration: Advancing Vaccine Research and European Pandemic Preparedness

In March 2026, in Brussels, the European Vaccines Hub (EVH) met with the Novo Nordisk Foundation Initiative for Vaccines and Immunity (NIVI) to explore opportunities for collaboration in vaccine research and immunological assessment. NIVI aims to revolutionize and accelerate vaccine development in Denmark by bridging the gap between academic research and industry innovation. NIVI conducts basic and translational research, with a strong emphasis on the development of new vaccines targeting respiratory-route pathogens with outbreak potential or those contributing to the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

The discussions focused on the potential complementarities and synergies between NIVI and EVH. The meeting also addressed the extension and integration of research networks, highlighting the importance of connecting complementary expertise and infrastructures at the European level. This collaboration has significant potential to contribute to the development of a more aligned scientific framework, thereby supporting the overall pandemic preparedness capacity of the European ecosystem.
